A modern state-of-the-art extrusion facility is only one part of the formula that contributes to the Chelsea Quality Assurance program. But it is extremely important, as the manufacturing process and the performance of the window profile are tied to the blend and consistency of the PVC compound. Chelsea’s proprietary formulation is a result of more than 30 years of extruding and testing PVC lineal profiles. This unique, proven formulation helps ensure consistent, high quality compound is continually fed to each extruder, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Nothing is left to chance in the blending of our proprietary formulation. Every stage of the blending operation is computer controlled. All the raw materials that are used in the final formula are weighed and distributed automatically from the storage areas to the blending tower. From here, the blended compound is automatically delivered to the extruder. All raw materials used in the final formulation have been fully tested and certified by the manufacturer before leaving the plant and delivered to Chelsea.
A Stringent In-House Quality Assurance Program:
Individual training and quality standards patterned after ISO 9001 makes sure the extruded lineal profiles used to manufacturer your window meets the highest quality standards. From the extrusion tooling to the down stream sizing equipment, from the setup to the final inspection of the profile, equipment, tooling and finished product must all meet stringent specifications. Hardened steel tooling is cut on highly technical sophisticated EDM machines from Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems. High volume extrusion lines, many of them using twin screw, dual strand extruders, are paired with extrusion dies and downstream sizers to produce a high quality continuous lineal profile that is held to tightly controlled dimensions and tolerances. Fully trained extrusion operators and quality assurance technicians continually monitor the process and the finished profile to ensure the quality and performance of the vinyl profile.
